Editura: CugetareaCod ISSN: 1221-4876, pp. 164-168 Abstract: Thirty years ago a text could view comparative advantages as based on factor-proportions theory. That still remains a fundamental idea. But the thrust of trade in the latter twentieth century has been in directions awkwardly handled by a simple factor-proportions approach. Indeterminate and contingent models with decreasing costs may serve as a better basis for understanding modern patterns of international trade. Such models are still consistent with the existence of comparative advantage. They simply offer a different explanation of what determines it. |
